Stilo (Greek: Stylos, column) is a town and comune in the province of Reggio Calabria, in the Calabria region of southern Italy. It is located 151 km from Reggio Calabria. The economy of the commune is mainly based on agriculture, with production of cereals, oil, wine and cheese. There are mines of iron and lead. At 10 km from the city is the promontory of Cape Stilo, where in 1940 the Battle of Punta Stilo was fought by the Italian and British Navies.

SCILLA

Scilla (Greek: Skylla) is a town and comune in Calabria, Italy, administratively part of the Province of Reggio Calabria. It is the traditional site of the sea monster Scylla of Greek mythology. Twenty-two kilometers from the city of Reggio Calabria, Scilla lies in front of the strait of Messina, and it is composed of two parts: the downtown, where the town offices and the residence of the patronal saint are situated, and Marina di Scilla, the beach-front, populated by tourists and thus heavily characterized by hotels and restaurants. Since its beach is the first place north of Reggio Calabria where the waters are not cooled down by the strait draughts.

L'artista

Krisztina Szabo nasce a Budapest nel 1980, intraprende fin da adolescente gli studi artistici dedicandosi alla pittura, pur non trascurando l’artigianato e le arti popolari della propria terra d’origine. Già a 18 anni realizza la sua prima mostra presso una rinomata galleria d’arte della capitale ungherese.

Nel 2006 vince il concorso per l’assegnazione di una borsa di studio, offerta dal governo danese, per giovani artisti. Dopo aver conseguito, a pieni voti, la laurea in Storia dell’Arte, agli inizi del 2008 si trasferisce in Calabria dove, ispirata dalle bellezze e dalla storia della Locride, riprende quasi a tempo pieno l’attività di pittrice, ottenendo fin da subito importanti riconoscimenti.

THE ARTIST

Krisztina Szabó was born in 1980, Budapest. She has dedicated her life to the love of art. She expresses her talent mainly in painting not neglecting other branches of art like applied arts or handicraft. She has organized her first exhibition at 18 years of age with the support of a well-known gallery in the Hungarian capital.

She has won in 2006 a scholarship established by the Danish Government for young artists. Right after she has graduated in the major of arts with exceptional results, in 2008, she moved to Calabria where she dedicates all of her time to painting and arts inspired by the beauty of the landscape and the history of Locri, gaining immediately all the appreciation and esteem.
